Knowledge is empowering, and we want to empower our clients with information on healthy living, best practices of equipment, changes in policies, and studies regarding new technology advancements.
Would an air mattress be covered under Medicare Part B insurance+
Coverage would depend on the place of service (POS). Air mattresses (Group II) are not covered in all jurisdictions. There are also medical criteria that must be met to justify the medical need. Contact our qualified billing experts, and they will work with you to determine eligibility.
I need an air mattress, but I don’t want to purchase one. Do you have a rental program+
We have a sister company, Southeast Marketing, Inc., which is a fee-for-service provider. We have a daily rental program with therapeutic support surfaces for a variety of circumstances. Pricing will be based on the product that is ordered. Our products incorporate alternating pressure (AP) and low air loss (LAL) therapies. We have standard and bariatric mattress replacement systems to accommodate patients/residents up to 990 lbs. We also have safety bolster coverlets available to reduce the risk of bed entrapment. Contact us to place orders, obtain pricing, or consult with our staff to determine the product features and benefits of the therapeutic support surface that best serves your needs.
How long will it take to receive the mattress once I’ve placed an order+
Typically orders placed before noon can be delivered the same day. If, for some reason, we are unable to make the delivery the same day, it would be the following morning.
Who do I call if I have a problem with my mattress after hours+
We have an answering service available after hours, weekends, and holidays. Call 800.748.8893 to report a problem.
What causes pressure ulcers+
There can be many factors that contribute to skin breakdown. Those factors include inadequate hydration or nutrition, lack of mobility due to injury, age-related conditions, excessive moisture next to the patient’s skin, and pressure points created by any protruding bones.
What does “Low Air Loss” mean+
“Low Air Loss” is an industry-wide phrase used to describe the part of the therapy that deals with the secondary factors of wound care, such as heat and moisture. Please remember that there is no actual “loss” of air. The low air loss function, whether in use or not, cannot cause the alarm to activate.
What is the purpose of Alternating Pressure+
Alternating Pressure is a vital key to addressing one of the primary causes of pressure wounds – constant or excessive pressure. The alternating (inflation/deflation) of air inside chambers we call “cells” creates pressure relief to the body and can be a critical method of wound care for anyone suffering from pressure points.
How do I know if I need “Low Air Loss” versus “Alternating Pressure”+
The treating clinician generally makes this determination. The “Low Air Loss” is designed to augment the “Alternating Pressure” as part of a patient’s therapy. The mattress unit combines these two therapies for maximum benefit to the patient.
What is the importance of displaying pressure settings+
Showing the actual real-time pressure inside your mattress helps the patient and caregiver know that the controller is providing the air movement necessary for the prevention/healing process needed to treat pressure points. The pressure readings are also beneficial in troubleshooting your mattress system.
What if I lose power+
Power the pump down and unplug it to prevent possible damage. After the power is restored, the pump should continue to work. If it should not work, there is a possibility there has been a power spike, or the power circuit has experienced a lightning surge.
